Project Description: Medical Exchange Sri Lanka


Medical Exchange Program between Austria and Sri Lanka

Country:          Sri Lanka

Time frame:      01 April 2007 – 31 March 2008

Partners:         Austrian Medical Chamber, Austrian Ministry of Health, Ministry of Health, Sri Lanka

Within the framework of this programme IASCI acts as facilitator and implementing agency for the Austrian medical Chamber to employ Austrian specialist doctors in Sri Lanka. These Austrian doctors will work in the field of gynaecologic and obstetric care, traffic accidents and other intramural treatments in accident and emergency medicine.

In return the Sri Lankan Health Ministry will send experienced Sri Lankan doctors to Austria, where they will receive training in the field of health management.

Currently it is planned to second a total of 10 Austrian doctors to Sri Lanka, each for a period of 3 months. In return it is anticipated that up to 3 Sri Lankan doctors will take part in training measures of the international medical training institute at the Fachhochschule Krems in Austria.
