Study of Savings and
Remittance Behaviours among Armenian Migrants and their Families
This document tests the key
migration-related hypotheses underpinning the impacting on the financial
intermediation interventions, mechanisms, and incentive models envisaged, and reports
on the findings arising from over 1400 migrant and migrant household interviews
conducted in Armenia and the Russian Federation during July and August 2006.
The migrant and household survey assesses the savings and remittance behaviour
among migrants and their families, including: the profile of migrants and their
households, the migration cycle and return intentions, sources of income, and
objectives related to savings, investment, etc. It also provides relevant
analysis about transfers from abroad, their senders and the uses of transfers,
as well as their own assessment of the savings and investment conditions in
Armenia.
