Werner Wendt, Deputy Director and Head of External Relations

IASCI’s Head of External Relations, Mr. Werner Wendt was Co-Founder and Senior Liaison Officer for all initial Source Country Information operations at ICMPD from 1997 to 2004 in the Balkan region, Asia and Africa. He assumed overall responsibility for developing and maintaining close working relations with some 25 participating and observer states and international partner institutions, as well as to the above mentioned states or regions hosting SCI-projects.

Prior to this engagement Mr. Wendt was with the Ministry of Interior of Austria, employed in the field of migration and integration policy development and implementation, migration management within the European context and asylum procedures under Austrian laws after practicing as apprentice judge and state attorney with the Ministry for Justice of Austria at various civil courts and the criminal court in Vienna.

Mr. Wendt holds a graduate degree in Laws from the University of Vienna.
